Outreach and Service Ministries

The Outreach and Service Ministries are opportunities to bring the Good News of Christ and the ministries we support to the people of our community and to the world. There are also opportunities to serve the church and the community through hands-on and financial support. These ministries help make the needs of the poor, hungry, and disadvantaged real to us, and encourage action.

Getting the word about Orchard out to the community

This ministry brings the activities and celebrations of Orchard to the community. Creativity with graphics and text make this group an integral part of getting the great news about Orchard out into the community so that others might come and see what we’re all about.

Funeral Lunches

Caterer: Randy Hall

This group of volunteers provides compassionate service at meals or light refreshments after memorial services when requested. This ministry is much appreciated by the grieving families. Catered lunches are also available upon request.

Missions Team

This team is responsible for distributing money designated for missions as well as offering opportunities for people to serve. Trips to the Baldwin Soup Kitchen in Pontiac and workdays to Cass Church and/or Scott Center in Detroit are regularly planned. Office Volunteers

Leader: Deanna Kohl

Volunteers are needed weekly to answer phones and assist with office duties. Helps is also needed to assemble the weekly worship bulletins and prepare the sanctuary for worship, to assist in special mailings, and in getting the church newsletter out on a regular basis.

Rebuilding Together Team

Leader: Gale Frazee

On the last Saturday in April each year, the people of Orchard join with others in our local area to provide assistance in home maintenance and repairs for people in need. Planning and fund raising occurs throughout the year in preparation for this big event.

Chairperson: Barbara DeGrazia

There are nine members of the trustees who serve for three year terms. They are responsible for the maintenance of Orchard and the parsonage that houses our minister. Each trustee is responsible for a particular facet of our maintenance program and contributes their time and energy serving Orchard.

Web Team

Leader: Linda Hall

Creates and maintains the church’s web site to bring the most up-to-date information about Orchard’s activities to our church family and to the community. Especially suited for those with creative writing skills or an eye for photography!
