Pastor's Corner

“Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

My love stay near me through

the night and wake me

in the morning light.”

This was my first prayer. As a child, it was the prayer that I said every night before I went to sleep. While I no longer say it, as I think of the words, they are like a warm blanket, a source of comfort and safety. They are familiar and represent to me the beginnings of my relationship with God.

Prayer is essential to our faith experience. It is the way we forge a relationship with God. It is what makes our faith authentic. And quite honestly, it is what can get us through life. Prayer reminds us we are not alone, and helps us to put our trust in One who is greater than we. Prayer is a lifeline.

The first three weeks of February, our worship focus will be prayer. This will be a time to engage in different styles of prayer as we seek to grow closer to God in prayer. I hope you will join us for this important series.

February 5 Why Pray?

February 12 How do I Pray?

February 19 Prayer and Action

I will be praying for this time together, and I hope you will too. I pray for God to speak to us and help us grow in faith and relationship with him.
